Titans’ Ascent Scholarships Grant Guidelines

1. Purpose:

  • Titans’ Ascent Scholarships aim to provide financial support and empower deserving high school upperclassmen at Towers High School (THS) within the DeKalb County School System. The program seeks to assist students in their transition to secondary education and celebrate their achievements as they progress through their academic journey.

2. Eligibility Criteria:

  • Open to seniors and juniors at Towers High School of DCSS.
  • Applicants must be in good academic standing and demonstrate a commitment to community involvement or extracurricular activities.
  • Seniors applying for the transitioning stipend must be planning to pursue secondary education.
  • Juniors applying for the grant must commit to remaining enrolled at Towers High School for their senior year.

3. Application Process:

  • Applications will be available through an online platform or designated school channels.
  • Applicants will be required to submit a completed application form along with a personal statement highlighting their academic achievements, extracurricular involvement, and future aspirations.
  • Recommendation letters from teachers, mentors, or community leaders may be requested to provide additional insights into the applicant’s character and potential.

4. Selection Criteria:

  • The selection committee will evaluate applications based on academic achievement, extracurricular involvement, community service, and the alignment of the applicant’s goals with the mission of Titans’ Ascent Scholarships.
  • Priority will be given to applicants with demonstrated financial need.

5. Award Categories:

  • Two distinct prizes will be awarded:
    • Category 1: Transitioning Stipend for Seniors
      • Amount to be announced at a later date.
      • Intended to support seniors in their transition to secondary education.
    • Category 2: Junior Year Support Grant
      • Amount to be announced at a later date.
      • Intended to be used towards graduation dues, club or sports team dues, or prom expenses for the awarded student’s senior year, provided they remain students at Towers High School.

6. Disbursement of Funds:

  • Funds will be disbursed directly to the educational institution or designated accounts to ensure proper utilization.
  • Recipients will be required to provide documentation of expenses related to the grant.

7. Reporting and Follow-up:

  • Recipients may be asked to provide periodic updates on their academic progress and involvement in extracurricular activities.
  • Titans’ Ascent Scholarships may feature the achievements of recipients on its website or other promotional materials.

8. Application Deadline:

  • The deadline for submitting applications will be announced each year, allowing sufficient time for the application review process.

9. Communication:

  • Applicants will be notified of their application status within a reasonable timeframe after the deadline.
  • All communication regarding the Titans’ Ascent Scholarships will be conducted through official channels.
